The new DJI Goggles 2 combine a high-quality, full-color video experience with an all-new design

We have seen multiple phenomenal releases from DJI, and DJI goggles 2 is one of them. The release of the Avata FPV drone and the new goggles has somewhat changed the rule of drone ownership- and with the word of DJI that their goggles provide a genuinely immersive FPV experience across the market, we are excited to explore it and provide you with an in-depth look at this beauty. So let’s start with its basic introduction.

What does DJI Goggles 2 use for?

The DJI goggles 2 were designed for an easy and attractive first-person view (FYP). It provides seamless control and a crystal clear view. However, now all the new launches of DJI work with DJI goggles. It works wirelessly with the Avata FPV drone only, but we can see DJI shortly sending out some updates to make this fantastic device work with the Mini 3 Pro, AIR 2S, and the Mavic 3.

Unboxing DJI goggles 2

Opening this flying beast is an absolute joy. It comes in a glossy black box with the goggles image on the front. Once you open the lid, you will find all the accessories, i.e., the four antennas, the battery charger, the headband, the sponges for the eye cups, the carrying pouch, the lens cloth, the user manual, and the power data cables. However, the face padding is pre-installed, but you should attach the headband. However, the carrying case was absent, which is a pity for such a high price gadget.

DJI goggles 2 at a glance

As you open the box, you will get an impression of a gadget from any science-fiction movie. The design is excellent and is different from any other FYP headset. The front palate is in the shape of a fly. However, a rough measurement can be 167.40×103.90×81.31MM and 420G, which is typically half the size of the previous version. The two front antennas can also be seen on the upper front. The fantastic thing is that these are removable. Thus the goggles can be used without putting them on.

Now, if we talk about batteries, instead of an internal battery, it came up with an external battery that can quickly provide you working 110 minutes. However, you can choose another high-voltage battery if you need more working time.

At the bottom, two sliders are adjusted, allow to for adjustment of IPD in almost 58-70mm. except for this micro SD card and USB charge of type C is also on the bottom left.

The T-band in the DJI goggle 2 can also be adjusted in width and height. This made it more comfortable to use. However, seven vent holes are also present for the active ventilating system to avoid any possible fogging.

Buttons and controls of DJI goggles 2

The DJI goggles 2 has a total of 4 control buttons:

  • Up/down channel adjustment.
  • Record.
  • Back.
  • And 5D joystick.

The channel is usually displayed on a 0.49 inches micro-OLED screen with a brightness level of 700 nits and adjustable dioptres. An additional “link” button pairs the goggle with the DJI FPV drone. However, this combination made the navigation easier and enjoyable. Except for this, it is also compatible with the motion controller of the drone.

The goggles are also comfortable if used for a short period. Now, if we talk about the positioning of buttons, all the control is positioned on the side of the Goggles 2. The right side has an integrated touchpad, similar to a smartphone’s. The touchpad supports multi-touch gestures (two-finger swipes, pinch, and tap). The left side has buttons for basic functioning.
